A Glimpse Into the Past

Yesterday's post was cool, but it wasn't anything new. I write posts like that every few years.

This time it feels different. I've actually got some stories to tell, projects to share, and some cool custom software to do it with.

The last blog reboot was back in December 2022. Covid was ending and software was everywhere. There were tons of dev jobs and remote opportunities available. React was everywhere. PHP and Laravel were thriving. Bootcamps, SaaS, and influencers were making money look easy. My 8-year career was not looking as good as it previously had. Oh yeah, and ChatGPT had just dropped, changing the world and giving me a personal content writing assistant.

Starting a blog seemed like the obvious move.

I also wanted to give Livewire a try on a full project (Best. Decision. Ever.), and decided this was the project for it.

So after a few weeks and some very late nights with GPT, I was officially a TALL stack developer, with a dozen posts on my brand new blog with custom dashboard and everything. It felt amazing to crank out a full product that fast. Things were exciting while creating the blog, however, there was an obvious problem. All of the content was terrible AI slop that even I couldn't get through.

Fast forward 3 years and here we are again, only this time I'm actually writing the content.  It may still be terrible, but I'm actually writing, and able to read it from start to finish.
