Hello Google (and Pixel Superfans)

ZippDroid | July 21, 2023

Hello Google (and Pixel Superfans).

As this ZippDroid website journey continues and we try to refine our voice and audience, I wanted to share a little more about one of the previous attempts to start this website. In late 2021, we released a post titled, "Hello World and Welcome to the ZippDroid Blog". This post is a pretty hard to track down (and probably even harder to read), but the goal and message behind it is still very clear. When originally attempting to start this website, the goal was to become an official Pixel Superfan. For those of you familiar with the site (or me), you already know that I personally have been a Google “fanboy” since the day the T-mobile G-1 was released back in 2008 and have had 'the latest' Android device in my pocket ever since.

In 2021, I was pretty unfamiliar with what a Pixel Super Fan even was, I just knew the group existed and that based on the name, and my interests, it seemed logical that I belonged. This blog never really took off in 2021, but my efforts towards my goal of becoming a Pixel Superfan did not go unnoticed. On September 16th, 2022, I finally received the following email, inviting me to officially join the community which I felt I was already a part of.

So here we are. 10 months after being invited to be an official Pixel Superfan, 6 months after the new and improved “first” ZippDroid post, and 5 days after making a personal committment to post more, and through it all one thing remains constant. I’m still here talking about Google, Google devices, and how they continue to change my life for the better, and this post certainly won’t be the last time.

Being a Superfan has had some pretty cool perks so far, but the best thing for me has been the community. While I’m still not super active and vocal in the community yet, I am so appreciative to be part of a group with similar interests. Hopping on facebook for 5 minutes is no longer falling into a trap of politics and trash, but instead my feed is now filled with other Google Pixel Superfans who are sharing amazing photos, tips & tricks, and rumors and reviews on new Google Pixel products. It’s kind of funny, I originally started this blog in hopes to become a superfan, and now that I’m officially a superfan I plan to continue this journey knowing I have the support of the community and many people who share my feelings towards Google and more specifically Pixel.

In conclusion, my journey as a Pixel Superfan has been nothing short of transformative. From the early days in 2008 of fumbling with that G-1 keyboard, to this very moment as I reflect on how far I've come, Google and its Pixel phones have been constant companions throughout the twists and turns of life. Over the years, I've moved over five times, (including across the state) and in every new place, there was a Google phone right by my side, faithfully collecting (and storing/organizing) photos and preserving precious memories of each journey. Beyond the cutting-edge technology, Pixel has been my trusted storyteller, capturing the essence of every chapter in my life's adventure.

If you're a first-time reader, Welcome to ZippDroid, and check out where it all began; stay tuned for future posts, where the content will start to evolve to a more authoritative tone, while continuing to share reviews and celebrate our Pixel passion.
